I wrote this poem back in November 2014 or December 2014. Can’t remember the exact date. I just know it was very early on in the grieving process. The poem has a follow up response called ‘A Note from Sebastian to Mommy’. You can’t read one and not the other… if that makes sense. It is amazing how much stuff you find in your diaries. It never ceases to amaze me.
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Don’t you know that
Mommy loves you
To the moon and back.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Within my womb
I rocked you to sleep
As our beating hearts
Became one.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Don’t you know
Mommy misses you so much
There’s an empty cradle
Standing next to my bed
With your blanket
Carefully knitted
And pulled ever so gently
Back.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Mommy wishes you were here
So we could cuddle
As the rain goes pitter patter
pitter patter against the window.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
All Mommy wanted
Was to keep you safe
To keep you happy
To watch the stars with you
And to love you.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Don’t you know that
Mommy loves you
And misses you
And wishes you were cradled
In her arms
Forevermore.
~~~
Sebby Seb oh Sebby
Mommy just wants you to know
You are safe
In the arms of Jesus
